Forever Young by Jay Z
Jay Z's cover of "Forever Young", originally performed by Alphaville, was the beginning of remix rap covers.
The song "Forever Young" is known for its lyrics more than the sounds and tunes. The title in the album, Blueprint 3, is actually "Young Forever". His cover was based off the the Wayne Wonder cover. Wonder Wonder is a reggae artist. The main message about the song is for the youth. What does it mean to be young. According to Jay Z, it means living life without any regrets.
Now to the tunes. It is a rap song so some light background featuring lots of automation. No actual instruments but computer automated sounds. It seems to be a staticky beat comin in and out, and then three synthesizers from the original song. A bass synthesizer, a rhythm synthesizer, and a mysterious synthesizer (not even the internet knows haha). The beats portray an overall slow tune in a thought proving manner. It is a great song to reflect on your youth as well as one to belt out singing with your friends.
I enjoyed this song because it consists of meaningful lyrics and mixes in the old with the new. I appreciate it when newer artists bring back old songs and put a newer style to it.
